Disclaimer: About This Blog

THIS BLOG IS: my personal journey of how I am rethinking some of my spiritual beliefs.
THIS BLOG IS NOT: intended to point fingers at people who I think are wrong.
I do not believe the final judgement will be based on how many correct answers we get on a theology exam. I believe many people throughout history have had genuine relationships with God, despite holding questionable beliefs and practices. I make no claim to having it all figured out or being your judge. If we end up disagreeing over these topics I pray we can find a way to demonstrate grace.

Playdough Scripture Hebrews 10:24-25

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up going to church meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25 (Playdough Version)

Could other forms of meeting together count?

When do I encourage others towards love and good deeds?

I like this idea of "playdough version." It kind of reminds me of Alan Knox's "Scripture as we live it" series.

Good questions! Of course there are other kinds of meeting together. In fact, they are probably more conducive than church any day. Church tends to be either listening to a lecture and then going home (with no interaction, and no practical expression of the teaching; or 'warm fuzzy' coffee chats when nothing deep is shared anyway). I think discussions over coffee are much more beneficial and potentially life-altering.

And how and where to encourage others to love and good deeds? By planning and carrying out some particular act of kindness. Invite your friends to join you--you'd be surprised how many people are quite interested in working together to make a difference.

Thanks Jeremy. Yes, but I can't compete with Alan Knox. He's on #145. I've just got 61 so far.

The series description is here:

And thanks Al for your comments. Good thoughts. I agree.
