I understand many Christians share your position, I just don't see Calvinism fitting with all Scripture as I listed in my other post here:
http://jonjourney.blogspot.com/2009/06/five-points-of-calvanism.html

Even the Heb 4:1-2 passage you listed doesn't fit with Perseverance of the saints to me. It mentions the possibility of being able to 'come short of' what was promised them.

I believe God wants all His children to live in a restored relationship with Him. But some would rather live outside that relationship and do things their own way. The choice is up to us. I don't think 5 point Calvinists view it this way... they see the choice being up to God.

God blessJonathanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01266729238990589293noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2203174451356862507.post-24218483057001688132009-07-08T03:55:04.485-05:002009-07-08T03:55:04.485-05:00>Also, if Calvinism is the gospel, it is not go...>Also, if Calvinism is the gospel, it is not good news for all people. Calvinism can only be good news for the elect. For those whom God chooses to punish, it's really bad news.

Heb 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
Heb 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

You write as if there are people who *want* to believe the Gospel, yet God just won't allow it because they are predestined to hellfire, so, too bad.

Maybe they consider God to be not just and charitable enough for them to want to hang out with Him? You know, humans who put God in the dock and find Him wanting... They are the ones who want to be in hell. There will be no one in hell who doesn't want to be there. Sound perverse? Sound irrational? Sin is perverse and irrational to its core. The devil himself thinks he can *defeat God.* Perverse.

Consider them shells. Zombies. Don't allow them to bring you to hell with them. They attempt it many ways, one appealing to your 'humanity' and 'goodness' and getting you to judge God by your 'righteous' standards. The Puritanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12200009028083050918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2203174451356862507.post-33924543227593021042009-07-08T03:20:07.915-05:002009-07-08T03:20:07.915-05:00>When Jesus preached the good news of the kingd...>When Jesus preached the good news of the kingdom of God was he preaching Calvinism?

This is a specious question. Calvinists (Reformed Christians) derive doctrine from the Word of God, not man. The break from Rome was over the authority of Scripture vs. the authority of man. Protestants hold to the former.

If you want to claim Calvinism is not Scriptural then you are back to the old ground of proving your case by Scripture. Opponents of Calvinism have never been successful on that ground. The Puritanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12200009028083050918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2203174451356862507.post-72656576484998326462009-07-07T22:39:18.623-05:002009-07-07T22:39:18.623-05:00Hi Puritan, thanks for stopping by. Clarification would be appreciated if you're wanting a discussion. Sorry if I've misread your comment.

God bless!Jonathanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01266729238990589293noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2203174451356862507.post-8465745723949365772009-07-07T22:21:24.866-05:002009-07-07T22:21:24.866-05:00Thank you Arminians. Well done.The Puritanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12200009028083050918noreply@blogger.com
